Panthers are BACK!
This coming week at school marks a big one: our first FULL week back for the 2026-2027 school year! Rest assured, students are ready! There have been many line-up routines practiced, loads of walking down the hall moments happening with calm and respectful behaviours, classroom agreements created and thumbs-upped: PANTHERS ARE NAILING BACK TO SCHOOL! We would be happy for you to remind your Panther(s) of our shared recess and nutrition break expectations, if you have a chance. We always appreciate your partnership and find this Panther ship is steered straightest when students feel that their home people and school people are connected and aligned. Thank you in advance!
Classroom Reorganization
École Polson Park Public School will be reorganizing based on numbers (over classroom cap sizes) in our primary division on the English side. The breakdown of the classrooms will be:
- JK/SK - Ms. Winslade/Ms. Lennon (ECE)
- SK/1 - Ms. Pharoah
- 2/3A - Ms. Chanook
- 2/3B - Ms. Honcharsky
- 3/4 - Ms. Blommesteyn
- 4/5 - Ms. Anderson
- 5/6 - Ms. Nicholson
- 6 - Ms. Schmidt (Ms. Smith)
If your student is affected, you will hear from us on Wednesday September 16th and students will have the opportunity to visit their new classroom on Friday September 18th. This change will begin on Monday September 21st.
Thank you for trusting us to make student-centered decisions about the required shifts. While change is not always easy or preferred, it is part of the hidden curriculum of school and life. Your child will follow your lead in many ways, and as the adults in their lives, we must model how to approach change and embrace the opportunities it may present. Our staff put much care and consideration into student placements, and we all want your children, our students, to have a successful year. Please know that we have attempted to minimize moves as much as possible.

From our K-12 Indigenous Education and Reconciliation Lead, Ms. DiRocco:
"As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day on September 30th, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to engage in learning about the Residential School System and the true history of relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in what is currently known as Canada. This day invites us to honour the children who never returned home, stand with Survivors, and recommit ourselves to meaningful reconciliation in our classrooms and communities." National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day is on Wednesday September 30th. Please wear orange as a show of understanding, solidarity, and support.
