But Parent Council has a plan.</span></h3><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">This year's Fun Fair is all about raising money for a new slide. It's a lofty goal - we need $5,000 to get there and </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">we cannot do it without your help</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">!</span></h3><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Fun Fair is our chance to raise these funds, but it's only possible when we have enough volunteers to run the event properly. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) - Seeking Expression of Interest

<h2 class="editor-heading-h2"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is Seeking Expression of Interest</strong></b></h2><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Limestone District School Board is seeking expressions of interest from </span><a href="about:blank" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">individuals</span></a><a href="#_msocom_1" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">[EL1]</span></a><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">  interested in joining the </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Technical Advisory Group (TAG)</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> in support of the ongoing Student Census 2025 project.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group is to provide advice, perspectives, and recommendations related to the design of data collection methods, analysis, and the representation of results for LDSB’s Student Census. 2026 05 14 Community Foundation Grant for Summer Math and Literacy

LDSB Receives $25,000 Grant to Support Elementary Summer Learning

<p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) has received a $25,000 grant through the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area’s Community Grants Program in support of its Elementary Summer Literacy and Math Program.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The three-week program supports Limestone students finishing Senior Kindergarten to Grade 3 by strengthening foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to help set students up for success in the following school year.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Grant funding will be used to purchase literacy and math learning resources and to create family engagement packages. These take-home resources are designed to support learning at home and encourage families to engage in literacy and math activities alongside their students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The LDSB is grateful to the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area for their generous support, helping students across the district access this important summer learning opportunity.</span></p>

As last year, the performance will be split into two different days in order to accommodate all the performers and audience in our gym. Grade 6 groups will perform on both days and younger students will  be assigned one day. If your child is performing and they have a conflict on one of the dates, please inform their teacher so that we can schedule them appropriately. The track meet will take place throughout the day on Friday, May 1st. There are 5 events plus 3 rest stations.  Thank you to parent council for providing snacks!</span></h3><h3 class="editor-heading-h3"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Students have been organized into mixed age groupings that will be accompanied by a staff member or volunteer to their stations. 100 m running finals will take place at the end of the meet -around 3 pm.  A reminder that parents/caregivers spectators need to report to the main office before proceeding to any events.</span></h3><h3 class="editor-heading-h3"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Thank you to Mr. Ormiston for taking the lead on organizing Polson’s Track & Field season and to our staff and volunteer coaches!  We are also very grateful to have Sara Boyce and Scott Valberg, two amazing coaches and teachers from Calvin Park who will help us with our day. They will bring a group of grade 8 student leaders to help run/time the events and measure jumps, which will be reported to the scorer’s table.</span></h3><h3 class="editor-heading-h3"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Parents, please make sure that your participating student (grade 3-6) is prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for running and jumping outside as well as water bottles, sunscreen, and sunglasses & hats for this outdoor event.  We are looking forward to a fun and active day!</span></h3><h2 class="editor-heading-h2"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Polson needs bingo volunteers</span></h2><h3 class="editor-heading-h3"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Help us raise funds for Polson in the easiest way possible! After 30 minutes of online training, volunteers have a two-hour shift at the Community Spirit Gaming Centre on a Friday evening once every other month.</span></h3><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p><h3 class="editor-heading-h3"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">This is the single most impactful (and did we mention easiest?) thing parents can do for Polson Park. Your only responsibility during the shift is to be a friendly face that represents our school.</span></h3><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p><h3 class="editor-heading-h3"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">These bingo shifts raise an average of $1,500 for Polson every month. The funds go toward field trips, equipment upgrades, movie nights, dances and more. They allow our students to enjoy activities and much-needed enhancements to the school without having to ask families to engage in more labour-intensive fundraising activities.</span></h3><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p><h3 class="editor-heading-h3"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">But we need more volunteers to keep this income stream coming in! Upcoming Family Engagement and Climate Survey

<p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Limestone District School Board is inviting families to take part in the </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Family Engagement and Climate Survey</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">. This survey gives families an opportunity to share their experiences with their student’s school and with the school board.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The feedback helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve. It also supports schools and school councils in building welcoming, safe, and supportive school communities.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The survey includes questions about:</span></p><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">How schools communicate and share information</span></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Whether families feel welcome, included, and connected</span></li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Barriers to taking part in school activities, such as time, childcare, language, accessibility, or cost</span></li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Safety and bullying, including reporting and follow‑up</span></li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Licensed Before and After School Programs, including questions to help inform future planning</span></li><li value="6" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Some questions ask about family background to help us better understand different experiences across our communities</span></li></ul><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Participation is </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">voluntary and anonymous</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">. Families may skip any questions they choose. No names or identifying information are collected. Results are shared only as grouped summaries and are used to support learning, planning, and improvement at the board, school, and school council levels.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The survey will be open from May 1 to May 11 and will be available online. Families will receive an e-mail on May 1 with a link to the survey. </strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Paper copies will also be available at your school’s administrative office starting May 1.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The survey was developed with input from families and advisory committees, including the Parent Involvement Committee, to reflect a wide range of perspectives.
