What’s Happening at Polson:
We’re looking forward to this week’s SAC Family Halloween Dance on Thursday, October 30th. 6-8 pm. Admission is $2 with funds raised going to support our winter accessories drive. Donations of hats, mittens, neck-warmers and ear muffs are welcome at the dance. A reminder that students must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver supervisor! Many thanks to our parent volunteers for organizing this special event!
Expectations for Costumes and Spirit Days
We have some fun activities planned during this last week of October including the SAC Halloween Dance on Thursday, October 30th, a kindergarten Spooktacular Parade (start of first period on Friday, October 31st) and a Spooky Colours Spirit Day (Black & Orange, Green & Purple) on Friday, October 31st. If participants choose to wear costumes for any of these events, they must be safe, culturally respectful, and school appropriate. Please ensure that the following important costume expectations are followed to ensure the comfort, safety and inclusion of all students:
Spooky Colours Spirit Day will be the theme on Halloween Day, October 31st.. Student Council Representative will share expectations for spirit wear & costumes throughout the week.
If parents/students wish to wear costumes at school events, please be mindful that the choice of costume must be culturally respectful and should not promote stereotypes or discrimination of any kind.
Costumes must also be safe and school appropriate. Toy weapons or props, fake blood, and sharp props should be kept at home for trick-or-treating. For safety reasons, masks should not be worn at school.
School staff cannot assume responsibility for parts of costumes that may easily go missing or get lost when they are taken off. It's always a good idea to label belongings!
