Polson Family Update: December 14th, 2025
What’s Happening at Polson
We have a busy last week of classes for 2025! On behalf of Polson staff members, we want to thank you for your collaboration and support, and we wish all our families a warm and happy holiday break!
Jay Candy Honoured for Outstanding Service!
Congratulations to Mrs. Jay Candy who received the Tanis Fairley Award in recognition of outstanding service Award by a Food Sharing Project School Nutrition Coordinator. Mrs. Candy has organized the Food Share Program at Polson for the past three years and helped to pilot the Lunch is Ready Program this past year. Over the past three years, Jay Candy has been instrumental in making sure that students have access to nutritious meals and snacks to support their learning through the day in a caring and stigma-free environment. Thank you so much for all your hard work, Mrs. Candy!
EQAO Individual Student Reports
Students currently in grade 4 received their individual student Reports from EQAO on Friday to take home to their parents-please check backpacks! We have also sent individual student results to our former grade 6 students to their news schools with copies to be sent home. If you have any questions about provincial assessment results, please do not hesitate to reach out. Many of our classes are analyzing the data from a student perspective. If you’d like to see how Polson student results compared to our board and province, please see the charts below:

Polson staff members left it all out on the court to preserve their undefeated record vs student volleyball teams!
Mrs. Salvary's grade 5/6 students have been working hard on rehearsals as they prepare for their live performance this week. As we say in the theatre, "Break a leg!"
Increased Absences at Polson:
Based on the ongoing monitoring of attendance patterns for both staff and students, we have determined that the absence rates related to respiratory symptoms at Polson Park PS have increased above average. It is recommended that families follow these simple measures that help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses:
1. Stay home if you are sick or have new or worsening symptoms.
· Stay home until fever-free with symptoms improving for at least 24 hours (48 hours if nausea, vomiting or diarrhea).
2. Wear a mask to protect you and others from illness.
· Students or staff returning after being sick should wear a well-fitted mask in all public settings (including school and childcare) for 10 days after your symptoms started.
3. Wash hands and cover sneezes.
· Frequently clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow.
4. Stay up to-date with vaccinations including flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
· To learn more about influenza vaccines and availability, visit www.kflaph.ca/Influenza .
