Welcome Back - Getting Ready for the 2026-2027 School Year

Dear Polson Families,

It’s almost here! It’s almost time for the First Day of School 2024! We are very excited to welcome new and returning students and families to École Polson Park Public School for a wonderful year of learning and growing! We wanted to ensure you have the information you need so that you can plan accordingly, so here is our Top 10 List:

  1. Tuesday, September 1st is a PA Day. The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

 

  1. Our school hours are 9:15 am to 3:35 pm. Yard supervision begins at 9:00 am.

 

  1. Educators and staff will be outside on Wednesday morning to welcome families and students to ensure everyone finds their teacher and line-up/entrance.

 

  1. Classroom placements will be shared on Tuesday, September 1st by way of a welcome email from your student’s teacher. Teachers will share details about where to meet them on the first day. *If you do not receive this email by 2:30 pm on Tuesday, September 1, please call the school or email polso@limestone.on.ca.

 

  1. Please send your student to school with the following items:
  • Backpack/school bag
  • Indoor shoes
  • 2 Nutrition break Meals and snacks (nut-free, please)
  • Water bottle
  • Change of clothes (for students in all grades)
  • Hat/Sunscreen

*If you need support with any of the above items, please ask us to help. We are happy to help families.

**Please remember to avoid wearing scented products to school.

6. All the items in your child’s backpack (from the list above) should be labelled with your student’s name.

7. Students are provided with pencils/pens, crayons, erasers, paper, workbooks, etc. You do not need to purchase these items.

8. If you have not heard from Tri-Board regarding your student’s busing, please reach out to them directly at 613-354-1981 or https://triboard.ca/contact/

9. The school will be this week (August 23-31), 8:30-3:30 pm. If you have any questions, please call the main office at 613-542-5926.

New JK Students Who Missed the Discover Kindergarten Event in June

If you were unable to attend our Discover Kindergarten/Open House event in June, please call/email the school for an opportunity to visit Polson Park this week.

School Organization & Staff List 2026-2027

At this time, I would like to share that Mme. Cheryl Fischer has accepted a teaching job at Rideau Public School. This vacancy will be filled by a Long-Term Occasional Teacher following an interview process this week. Félicitations, Mme. Fischer!

Polson School Advisory Council – Please join us!

Currently, our first School Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, starting at 6:00 pm. This meeting will be held at the school with a virtual option – the link will be shared closer to the meeting date. All parents/guardians of École Polson Park Public School students are invited to attend. This meeting will also be the opportunity to hold elections. You can attend/participate in School Council meetings without holding an elected position. More specific information will be shared during the first week of school.

Medical Safety Plans

If your child has a health condition such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, heart condition, or anaphylaxis allergies, or if they require other medical procedures and/or medications to be administered at school, we must receive medical plans as soon as possible. Thank you to those families who have already submitted this information. Please contact the school directly if you have any new medical information to share with the school or if you need assistance accessing or completing the medical forms. CPICs for Volunteers

You are required to have a current CPIC on file at the school in order to attend a field trip or volunteer at the school. There can sometimes be a wait to have this process completed. Weekly Updates for Families

Our weekly update/newsletter for families will be shared on Mondays via our website under the “News” tab. An email will be sent to all families weekly to let you know when it has been posted. Updates remain on the website so you can access all shared information throughout the school year. If Monday is a holiday or a PA Day, the update will be shared on Tuesday.
