Polson Park – Family Update – September 7-11
We hope you had a wonderful long weekend!
We held our Welcome Assembly outside this morning,, followed by a dance party that led into recess. During the assembly, we introduced staff members, park in the west lot, there is typically plenty of space for the and we reminded students about a few key safety rules:
- Always keep your hands and feet to yourself
- Listen to and be respectful of all adults at Polson
- Walk in the hallways
We also mentioned that there are currently 2 soccer games during recess – one for primary (grades 1-3) and another for junior students (grades 4-6). This helps keep numbers down and improves safety.
Parking Update
We have received a lot of positive feedback about the changes to the west parking lot. Staff arrive and park in this lot before students and families arrive so that it’s a safe space for families and students who walk to school. Because most staff park in the west lot now, there is typically plenty of space for the community to park in the east lot, by the tennis courts. Please ensure extended family who may be at the school know about this parking change. Thank you for your support.
Plans of Care
If your child has a health condition such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, heart condition, or anaphylaxis allergies, or if they require other medical procedures and/or medications to be administered at school, we must receive medical plans as soon as possible. Thank you to those families who have already submitted this information. Please contact the school directly if you have any new medical information to share with the school or if you need assistance accessing or completing the medical forms.

School Council - Meeting and Elections September 23rdwho, 6:00 p.m.
The School Advisory Council (SAC) consists of parents/guardians who gather monthly to collaborate, participate, and contribute to the education of students at Polson Park. Education is a partnership, and we invite you to be involved! Our first meeting of the 2026-27 school year will be on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd at 6:00 pm at Polson Park. The exact classroom location will be shared the week of September 21st. Conversations during meetings usually highlight student achievements, supporting staff initiatives, equity, and well-being. SAC attendees usually consist of the principal, a staff representative (VP), parents/guardians, and community representatives. The meetings are typically an hour in length. Because elections must be done within the first month of school, they will take place at our first meeting.
Your SAC looks forward to seeing you at our first meeting on Sept. 23rd at 6:00 pm.
