Polson Family Update: January 11, 2026
What’s Happening at Polson!
Inclement Weather Days
We had two days of inclement weather and board wide bus cancellations this week. As a result, our snowplow safety presentations were rescheduled for this Friday,, January 16th, weather permitting, and bus safety presentations will be rescheduled for February 5th. On these days, Lunchbox orders will be cancelled as well as extra curricular activities a such as Running & Reading Club. On days when buses are cancelled in the morning, they also do not run in the afternoon. Please check the Triboard Transportation website for bus cancellation alerts.
A Shoutout to École Polson Park PS School Advisory Council!
Thank you to our parent council for their ongoing support of student activities and learning at Polson and for being such an important partner in the success of our school! In addition to organizing special events such as family dances, movie nights, and fun fair, parent volunteers help run Bingo and other fund-raising efforts that have subsidized costs for activities including a $12 field trip subsidy for each student, sports team registrations, and treats for schoolwide events. They have also supported additional technology, additional gym and yard equipment, extra winter clothing, and more literacy resources, including 20 additional student licenses for Lexia, a research-based reading intervention program. We couldn’t do this without the support of an amazing parent team, and we hope that more parents join our SAC meetings to find out more and to help out if you can! Our next meeting is on Wednesday, January 14th at 6 pm, in person and online!
Mme Carew, our school math facilitator, works with teachers and students to support math achievement progress. Ms. Blommesteyn's class logged onto Knowledgehook to solve some challenging math problems!
Mandatory Immunization Reporting Due
As required by the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA), SEPH will begin reviewing student immunization records and issuing immunization notices and suspension orders to non-compliant students this week. The ISPA requires that for children born in 2-10 or later, students be appropriately immunized, or have a valid medical or conscience/religious exemption on file at public health. Please follow the link for more information on how to report and track your child’s immunizations:
