Polson Family Update: May 10, 2026
What’s Happening at Polson!
Happy Mothers Day to all moms and caregivers in our community!
At our assembly, we recognized students for their Track & Field and attendance. We also wrapped up our Mental Health Awareness Week and enjoyed a little celebration of dance!
Go Panthers!
Congratulations to our students who represented our school at basketball tournaments and the LCVI Road Race this week. We are so proud of your efforts and achievements. Thank you so much to all staff coaches and parent volunteers who have encouraged and supported our student athletes!
Au revoir Mme Brockwell!
On Friday, we said farewell to a wonderful education assistant, Angela Brockwell, as she begins her studies to become a teacher. We will miss her and we wish her all the best. We will be welcoming Mme Robitaille Murphy to our Polson EA team for the remainder of the year.
Polson Lip Sync Performance May 27-28!
We are delighted that 45 different groups of students wish to perform in this fun event! As last year, the performance will be split into two different days in order to accommodate all the performers and audience in our gym. Grade 6 groups will perform on both days and younger students will be assigned one day. If your child is performing and they have a conflict on one of the dates, please inform their teacher so that we can schedule them appropriately. The shows will begin at 2:15pm and parents are welcome to attend.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for all you to to support our students and school!
Family Engagement & Climate Survey
The Limestone District School Board’s Family Engagement and Climate Survey is now live and we invite families to share their experiences with their student’s school and with the school board.
Your feedback helps Limestone understand what is working well and where we can improve, and supports welcoming, safe, and supportive school communities.
The survey is open from April 30 to May 11 and is available online. Paper copies are also available at your school’s administrative office.
Access the Family Engagement and Climate Survey online.
Participation is voluntary and anonymous. You may skip any questions you choose, and no identifying information is collected.
Thank you for sharing your voice and helping strengthen Limestone schools and school communities.
Ultimate Frisbees for Sale!
Spring weather brings ultimate frisbee! As staff plan for another fun season of playing ultimate, families are reminded that Polson Park discs are available to purchase for $20. Please contact your child’s classroom teacher to order!
Students, teachers and LDSB tutors at Polson have been planning and preparing for primary and junior provincial assessments in reading, writing, & math. This helps us know what to expect and builds confidence!
EQAO Primary & Junior Assessments
At Polson, provincial assessments will be administered from May 25th -May 28th. And June 2nd -June 5th. We encourage your child to be present st school when their scheduled assessment dates, but students who are absent will be able to write the assessment on another date during the window. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if your child has any conflicts or if you have any questions. If you would like to know more about the assessments, please see the links below for upcoming webinars and parent resources.
EQAO Assessments: What to Expect
Math Practice at Home with Knowledgehook
Knowledgehook is a secure, online tool designed to provide useful information to help guide the next steps in instruction during the learning process. Students at Polson have been using Knowledgehook in conjunction with other tools in order to reinforce learning and to apply their skills in a format that is reflective of Ontario Curriculum expectations and the format for EQAO assessments.
As a parent, you can connect to your child’s account and be part of supporting and understanding their learning journey. Your child’s teacher may have already shared their code with you earlier this year, but please reach out if you would like to connect to your child’s account.
