Polson Family Update: January 18, 2026
What’s Happening at Polson!
Inclement Weather Days
With more winter weather days ahead, please continue to check updates on bus cancellations or other activities that may be impacted by inclement weather. On days when we experienced severe temperatures or icy conditions, we monitor the conditions for student and staff safety and alter plans or out of bound areas accordingly. Thank you to our parent council for providing extra mittens, hats, and other clothing items available to all students in our front foyer.
Karate Kids
Tallack Martial Arts has wrapped up the Karate Kids Program for this school year. Thank you to their team for bringing this opportunity to our school and for sponsoring 12 Polson students with scholarships to participate! Congratulations to all students who received their belts this week!
Staffing News
Term 1 wraps up on January 30th, and that brings with it some staffing changes for Term 2. We will be welcoming back Laura Winslade to grade 1 English, and saying farewell to Julia Honcharsky. Thank you to Ms. Honcharsky for doing an amazing job of getting our students off to a successful job this year! As well, Mme Moore will be going on leave during Term 2, and we will be welcoming Thalia Guardano to Polson to the Grade 2/3 class and primary planning time. As well, Mme Ormiston will be taking over as .25 SST during term 2. We will also be welcoming back Anastasia Chater to our EA team on February 17th. Thank you so much to Shara Harris for her wonderful support of our students first term!
Mandatory Immunization Reporting Due
As required by the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA), SEPH has reviewed and issued immunization notices and suspension orders to non-compliant students. The ISPA requires that for children born in 2-10 or later, students be appropriately immunized, or have a valid medical or conscience/religious exemption on file at public health. Please follow the link for more information on how to report and track your child’s immunizations:
Immunization Records & Reporting
