What’s Happening at Polson!
Happy Passover & Easter to all families who celebrate. Classes resume on Tuesday, April 7th!
We celebrated World Autism Day on April 2nd with a Tie Dye spirit day at Polson!
Month of the Military Child
In Canada, Month of the Military Child is observed in April to recognize and celebrate the unique experiences, resilience, and sacrifices of children in military families. These children face unique challenges, such as frequent relocations, prolonged absences of loved ones due to deployments, and adapting to new communities and schools. The month is an opportunity to raise awareness, build resilience, and celebrate.
Many communities and organizations, such as Military Family Resource Centres (MFRCs), host events, activities, and initiatives during this month to celebrate and support military children and their families. Follow the link for more information about this month’s events:

Scholastic Book Fair Coming Soon
Next month, Polson will once again be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair! Roughly 1/3 of the proceeds come back into classrooms through Scholastic credits. These credits are used to make purchases from the Scholastic Catalogue such as additional math tools, games to strengthen literacy skills, organizational tools, reference materials for desks, self-regulation tools, and of course books to fill our classroom libraries!
The book fair cannot run without the help of volunteers to work the cash. If you have time and are wiling to help out, please contact Mme Underhill at underhillw@limestone.on.ca. Volunteers are needed on Wednesday April 15th and Thursday April 16th from 9am-11am, and 11:40am-1pm. Volunteers are required to have a CPIC with a vulnerable screener check.
Also, this year we will once again be doing a book trade! This was a big hit last year. If you have gently used children's books at home that you are willing to part with, please send them to school and we will provide them for other students to take home during the book fair, free of charge!
Grade 5 Biographers
Congrats to students in Mrs. Hanson's grade 6 Language class. They have been reading biographies, taking notes, and organizing their ideas into focused paragraphs. Lastly, they edited and revised their work to make sure they had composed strong sentences and paragraphs. Their finished biographies are polished and posted in our hall bulletin board.
